Kiroro Snow World

Akaigawa Village powder base between Sapporo and Otaru — choose the stay and base that fits your trip before you chase the powder.
Overview
Kiroro Snow World sits in Akaigawa between Sapporo and Otaru. It suits riders who want Hokkaido snow and quieter slopes than Niseko, while accepting that dining and nightlife outside the hotels are limited. The key choice is whether to pay for ski-in/ski-out convenience, choose an all-inclusive package, or stay off-mountain and visit for the day.
Allow roughly 1.5–2 hours from New Chitose Airport by private car or seasonal transfer. From Sapporo or Otaru, check the current timetable and reserve ahead. On-mountain accommodation removes the daily transfer; Kiroro Town and the Mountain Center are the practical service base for day visitors, tickets, rentals, lessons, and lift access.
For 2026–27, Kiroro’s published price table currently lists high season as December 12, 2026–April 11, 2027, with an adult 1-day pass at ¥9,200. Prices and operating dates can change, so check the official page again before booking or buying.
Where to Stay and Which Base Fits
- YU Kiroro — the Yu area near the slopes: a ski-in/ski-out condominium hotel, $$ premium rather than all-inclusive, best for families or groups who want spacious suites, living areas, and a full kitchen for some self-catered meals.
- Club Med Kiroro Peak — a Club Med property connected to the ski area: $$ premium all-inclusive, with ski-in/ski-out access subject to operations, best for guests aged 12+ who want meals, drinks, group lessons, activities, and lift access organised in one package; check inclusions for the booking date.
- Club Med Kiroro Grand — the Grand side of Kiroro Resort: $$ all-inclusive, with ski-in/ski-out access subject to operations, best for families of different ages, children, or groups with non-skiers who value kids facilities, activities, and indoor space.
- Kiroro Town / Mountain Center — the resort’s service centre for tickets, rentals, lessons, and lift access, not an all-inclusive or ski-in/ski-out hotel base. Best for day visitors, guests staying in Otaru or Sapporo, or travellers who want to separate accommodation, transport, and mountain costs.
Snow and Best Time to Go
Kiroro typically operates from late November through early May. Mid-January through February is the deepest, driest powder window; December is often quieter, while March brings a mix of fresh snow and warmer days. Check live conditions, visibility, lift operations, and open-area rules each day.
