Shymbulak sits above Almaty. A direct electric taxi can be the easiest journey when a suitable driver accepts the mountain destination; the dependable fallback is to travel through Medeu Base Station. Pedestrian gondola tickets are for sightseeing, while ski passes cover skiing and snowboarding.

ALA / Almaty → Shymbulak
Start by trying a direct Yandex Go Electro ride from ALA or Almaty to Shymbulak. This is an electric taxi: one car takes you toward the resort when an appropriate vehicle is available and the driver accepts the mountain destination. Enter Shymbulak as the destination, then tell the driver before pickup if you have a long ski or snowboard bag and confirm that it will fit.
If a direct ride is unavailable or declined, use the Medeu route:

The eco-bus is not an electric taxi. Yandex Go Electro is a booked car ride whose availability and destination acceptance vary. The eco-bus is the resort shuttle for the Medeu–Shymbulak road section.
From ALA with luggage, a direct taxi or private transfer is the simplest first choice. If you plan to change at Medeu, reserve enough vehicle space for every suitcase and equipment bag and allow for gondola or eco-bus operating hours.
Shymbulak → Almaty / ALA
Try a direct Yandex Go Electro pickup from Shymbulak and confirm the city or airport destination with the driver. It is still subject to a suitable vehicle being available and the driver accepting the trip. Specify ski or snowboard bags before pickup.
If no direct ride is available, descend from Shymbulak to Medeu by gondola or eco-bus, then take a taxi or private transfer to Almaty or ALA. For a flight, leave a generous buffer for the mountain connection, city traffic, and equipment loading; a pre-arranged transfer is the safer choice when timing is tight.
A full-day ski pass includes the Medeu–Shymbulak gondola. Skiers do not need to buy a separate pedestrian gondola ticket for the same journey.

Equipment and facilities
Rental points operate at the mountain. Choose the collection point around your arrival route and confirm that the required ski or snowboard sizes are available before the first session.
